UK largest pub chain is fined

Pound signFollowing an incident last April, the UKs largest pub chain Greene King has been fined £24,000 for providing inaccurate allergen information.

An 11 year old boy suffered an anaphylactic shock after eating a desert containing egg, despite the staff and the allergen sheets assuring the mother that the desert didn’t contain egg.

The problem appears to have arisen from a discrepancy between Greene King and the supplier regarding the list of ingredients.  This issue subsequently arose in November 2015 but Greene King failed to act until February 2016, and then they still failed to ensure that individual restaurants had the correct information, which ultimately led to this incident.
