French Bread
Ingredients
- 400g Doves Farm (or other GF ) Bread Flour
- 3tsp Xantham Gum
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- 375ml warm water
- 2tbsp caster sugar
- 2tbsp yeast
- 3 egg whites (beaten)
- 2tbsp melted butter + extra for glazing
- 1tsp vinegar
Method for the Sauce
- Set the oven to 200 C.
- In a mixing bowl add the flour, xantham gum and salt.
- In a separate bowl dissolve the sugar in warm water. Mix in the yeast and leave to foam for 5 minutes.
- Add the melted butter, egg white, vinegar and yeast mixture to the flour.
- Beat with an electric whisk on high for 3 minutes.
- The mixture is sloppier than normal bread dough – don’t worry about this – just spoon into your tin or baguette pan and shape out by pressing lightly with the back of a spoon.
- Use a pastry brush to paint on melted butter and put into the oven for 35-45 minutes or until crispy and golden.
