Get Certified in Allergen Management with the Food Allergy Aware Scheme

We’re inviting BAHA members to take part in our Food Allergy Aware Certification scheme, currently running as a pilot at a reduced rate for early adopters.

This scheme helps your business demonstrate a proactive approach to allergen safety and inclusivity—key factors in attracting and retaining food hypersensitive (FHS) customers.

Certification Levels:

  • Bronze – Compliant
    Basic allergen policy and key staff trained. Limited allergen-friendly options.
  • Silver – Very Good
    Improved documentation, communication, and 25% of menu sections offer allergen-free choices.
  • Gold – Excellent
    Embedded allergen culture, wider menu choices, and consideration of allergens outside the Top 14.
  • Platinum – Exceeding
    FreeFrom-specific venue or kitchen space, supply chain assurance, and full accessibility.

What's Included:

  • Pre-Audit Booklet: Completed by Kitchen & FOH Managers. Working document that supports your ongoing allergen processes.
  • Guidance Document: Helps you align practices with your target certification level.
  • Induction PowerPoint Template: For new staff training, with test sheet included. Booklet currently being updated.
  • Allergen Policy Template: Available on request to support internal documentation.
