Summary of certification awarded

Outstanding Food Allergen Management Recognised at PGL Windmill Hill

Food Allergy Aware is delighted to announce that Windmill Hill – Camps, East Sussex, part of PGL, has achieved Food Allergy Aware Gold Certification following an independent audit.

The certification recognises the centre’s exceptional commitment to supporting children with food allergies, coeliac disease and other special dietary requirements throughout their residential stay.

A Safe Dining Experience for Every Child

Residential visits are often a child’s first extended period away from home, making confidence in allergen management especially important for parents and schools.

The independent audit found outstanding procedures throughout the customer journey, from the collection of dietary information before arrival through to food preparation, service and communication with Party Leaders.

Children with dietary requirements benefit from carefully planned meal provision, dedicated preparation procedures and support from trained catering professionals throughout every meal service.

“The operating procedures and practical measures regarding allergen management at this site were outstanding.”

Supporting Schools and Parents

Windmill Hill works closely with schools, parents and Party Leaders before arrival to understand each child’s dietary requirements.

Where additional reassurance is required, members of the catering management team are available to discuss individual dietary needs directly, helping families feel confident before their child’s visit.

Independent Recognition

The audit also concluded:

“Parents and schools should feel extremely reassured that everything possible is being done to provide safe and delicious food for children with dietary needs. The children have a positive experience, in some cases away from home for the first time, and parents can have confidence that their children are being catered for safely and with great care.”

Your Feedback Matters!

Due to the closed nature of the centre we are unable to Mystery Dine, we will however work with PGL and the centre to review their feedback in response to their allergen questions.

If you or your child has visited the centre, we’d love to hear about your experience, please feel free to add your comments below and share your positive experiences on review platforms such as TripAdvisor and social media platforms to help others in the Food Hypersensitive (FHS) community.

If you experience any issues during your visit, we recommend raising it with the venue at the time or contacting them as soon as possible afterwards so they have the opportunity to investigate and respond appropriately. You can also contact us directly at admin@fatc.co.uk, and we will review the matter. Feedback responses may come from either the venue or Food Allergy Aware, depending on the situation.
