About the Easter Free From Awards!
The free from Easter offer has blossomed in recent years. With egg hunts, sweet treats and family time together, children and adults alike are often as excited for Easter as they are Christmas. But those on restricted diets can struggle to find safe free from foods.
Easter is a time when consumers often look for something special or a little bit different, so this award presents a great opportunity for smaller, independent producers as well as the larger brands and retailers.
The Hot Cross Buns sparked some of the liveliest discussions of the week. Our judges were locked in a ‘Mince Pie-style’ debate: what does the perfect bun actually look like? From spice levels to fruit distribution, it’s clear that one size (and flavour) definitely doesn’t fit all!
But there was one thing everyone agreed on: the credentials. The vast majority of entries had no PAL for Peanuts or Tree Nuts, and some were even Top 14 free.
We know that when families and friends gather for Easter Sunday, a showstopping cake or a seasonal bake is often the star of the table.
This year’s Cakes & Bakes were incredibly welcome additions to the Easter lineup, offering a delicious change of pace from the chocolate haul.
Easter magic is about the products that bring the fun to life for children, though, let’s be honest, they’re definitely not just for the little ones!
