- Connect with like-minded professionals across the sector
- Share insights, best practices, and referrals
Focus Areas for the Opening Session
As part of our upcoming session, we are delighted to welcome Jane Biddlecombe, Legal Director in the Employment team at Blake Morgan. Jane is a highly experienced employment law specialist who advises organisations across a range of sectors, including hospitality.
Jane will be presenting on the changes proposed to zero hours contracts under the Employment Rights Bill and what these reforms mean for hospitality businesses.
Key changes include:
- Employers will be required to offer guaranteed hours contracts to zero hours and low hours workers.
- Workers will be entitled to be given reasonable notice of shifts.
- Compensation will be payable for shifts that are cancelled, curtailed or changed at short notice.
- These new rights will also extend to agency workers.
These reforms are designed to improve job security and predictability for zero hours and low hours workers, while setting clear expectations for the employers of such workers. Jane will help you understand what these proposed changes mean in practice, ensuring you are prepared to adapt your procedures and ways of working accordingly.

We’ll also hear from Caroline Benjamin of Food Allergy Aware, who will discuss the latest FSA guidance on allergen management, including developments related to Owen’s Law. This law advocates for clearer allergen information on menus, and Caroline will provide insights into how these changes may impact day-to-day operations and staff training in food service settings.
Future session will cover hot topics such as:
- Skills Pipeline & Upskilling Support from the SHCG
- Regulatory changes
- Digital Innovation & Tech in Hospitality
- Food Safety and Training
- Promoting Hospitality as a sustainable career
- Allergen Management
We are open to suggestions if you have other topics which you would like covered.
