The Year of the Adult
For many years there has been significant focus on children and the impact and risks of allergies for this age group. This year however, the Anaphylaxis Campaign are highlighting the issues that adults face, especially as a significant number of adults with allergies develop them out of the blue in adulthood, with such reactions often leading to an anaphylactic reaction. Take shellfish for example, the average for an adult male to develop an allergy to shellfish is just over 50 years old. Individuals who develop allergies suddenly like this so its important that those in the catering industry know how identify and deal with an anaphylactic reaction.
